There is a common affliction of the heart that Americans deal with today. That is we tend to be half-hearted. What I mean is, we are only willing to give ourselves halfway, and are unwilling to go all in for Christ. Luke 14:26-28 warns us of the cost that comes with discipleship. When we accept Jesus, we should do so with the understanding that we should be willing to give up everything for his sake; whether that be our father, mother, wife, children, brother, sister, even our own life. We should be able to go all in for our faith, not allowing anything to separate us from the father. Luke 16:13 tells us, “No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Just like money, there can be nothing that we serve other than God.
So, I ask you, are you willing to sacrifice, your Job, your family, your friends, your belongings, etc. for the sake of our savior. Before you answer that question if I were to tell you that limiting your screen time to an hour a day would drastically increase your relationship with Jesus would you be willing to do it? If I told you to go a day without TV, Cellphones, etc. whatever it may be that takes your time away from God, do you feel that you could find your satisfaction in Christ alone. Let’s pray for our walk with God, that we can sacrifice for the sake of our relationship with the father, just like he sacrificed his son for the sake of his relationship with us.
