America Needs to Repent

08/31/2021

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD (Psalm 3312). Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people (Proverbs 14:34). These two verses contrast the condition of any nation, including America, that either serves the LORD or disobeys Him. We can either be blessed or cursed by God. Blessings come with obedience; curses comes with disobedience. And of late the LORD has been trying to call us to repentance. Hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, floods and pestilences should all give us a warning that we need to get right with God. Paul spoke of these times in II Timothy chapter three when he wrote that men would be lovers of themselves, loverss of money, and lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. Everything comes before the LORD.

Our nation needs to return to its Christian roots. Our forefathers built this nation on God's revealed Word. Patrick Henry once said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ." And if you would read the earliest documents of the original thirteen colonies you would concur. Now we have taken God out of our schools and very much of our government. And the consequences are great. The Old Testament prophets would say, "We have sown to the wind and we are reaping the whirlwind." They, the Old Testement prophets preached repentance, John the Baptist preached repentance, Jesus preached repentance, and the Apostles of Christ preached repentance. We need preachers today who will do the same. America will either repent or end up on the ashpit of history like all the other nations that rebelled againts the LORD God Almighty. Won't you join me in praying for revival and spiritual awakening in our Country before its too late?
